Sanitisation & Data Security
Here is the reason why we recommend Hard drive
Sanitisation . You probably know already that deleting
a file doesn't really delete it because you can visit
the Recycle Bin on your desktop and get it back. Well,
it's similar even at the lower levels of data storage
systems. When you "permanently" delete a file
the disk simply removes the marker for the location
of the file, but not the file itself. Why? Because it
takes time to overwrite the file. It's much more efficient
to just cut off the head. Even Microsoft Window's format
doesn't completely erase the data, because there is
no overwriting. It simply checks that every part of
the disk is in working condition and tells you it's
ready to be rewritten with your files. But that doesn't
remove the data completely. Sensitive data such as customer,
financial and health information are to be protected
under the Australian law. It is your company's responsibility
to make sure that that data is secured or they have
been permanently erased.
The only way is to re-write the data to make it physically
impossible to retrieve any information previously stored
on the Hard Drive.
The only method used by us complies by the DEPARTMENT
OF DEFENCE SANITISING STANDARD. The hard drive data
is overwritten up to 7 times with different characters
making the data impossible to retrieve. You cannot make
it more secure than this.
Hard Destruction.
If you required even more data security than DEPARTMENT
OF DEFENCE SANITISING STANDARD we can physically destroy
them.
